Change starts with one person making a difference in a small way. Maybe no one will ever realize what you have done, but you can make a big difference and it won’t cost a penny. Giving a little bit of your time every month can change someone’s life and it is easy to get started. Even if you work, you can find ways to help in the community and make changes in the life of the very young to the very old.

Volunteering in the local grade school to listen to children read out loud will give the little one’s a chance to practice their skills and to know a favorite adult will always be there every week. If you enjoy children, you might want to consider acting as an advocate for foster children. Every foster child is entitled to have an advocate who will make sure the entire system is doing everything they can to return them to their natural family. It is a big responsibility, but only takes a few hours a month and can change a child’s life. Older people are always lonely and dropping in once a week to a retirement home to visit can provide a lot enjoyment for you and the older adult. So, sit down and think of some small way you can commit to make changes in your community. You will be the winner in the end and you can make a big difference even if it is in a small way.You thought this was good?

Charitable organizations depend on contributions to help their cause. There are several ways you can use your talents to help a charity raise money.

Musical Talent

If you have musical talent, you could organize a concert and donate the cost of admission to the charity. On a smaller scale, you could offer to play or sing during one of the charities fund raising events. Music is a morale booster and motivator at charity events. A pet adoption fair or a craft or food booth at a festival generally gains more attention if there is music for people to stop and listen to.

Art

If you are an artist, you could donate some of your paintings, sculptures or various other artistic creations for a charity auction.

Writing

If your are a writer, you could volunteer your time and skills to creating a newsletter for a charity you are passionate about. You could write grants or promotions or design flyers to advertise charity events.

Skills

You could use your special abilities in the areas of carpentry, painting, or landscaping to keep the charities office building looking professional.

Organizational skills or secretarial skills can be used to help in the charities office area. The information doesn’t stop now.

Arranging a fundraiser for animals is a very community oriented project. Finding a place to hold the fundraiser would be uppermost in beginning to organize the event. Once you have chosen a place, a time for the fundraiser should be picked. Usually, most fundraisers earn the most money for their cause if held on a weekend. Your fundraiser needs as many people as you can get to be successful financially. Since most people work during the week days, weekends are the only logical time to choose for a really successful fundraiser. Your fundraiser for animals will also need sponsors. You can find sponsors by calling local veterinarians, government animal shelters, and pet stores. Those professionals would make quality sponsors for a fundraiser for animals.
You should also have planned activities for your fundraiser. Planning a fundraiser for animals means choosing activities that would attract more people to make your fundraiser a success. You can invite animal trainers and you can bring speakers from local animal activities professionals. If your fundraiser for animals is well planned and has activities that include community programs, you might even get free advertising from local media like television and radio stations that broadcast in the location that would be most likely to bring people to attend your fundraiser. The hits keep comin’: Obama campaign expects lower summer fundraising

If you relish your family time and don’t want to be apart while you’re free consider giving back in these kid-friendly ways…
Go to a Shelter: If your kids like animals take the whole family to a shelter for clean up and playtime. You’re guaranteed to have the warm and fuzzies when you leave and you may keep some furry friends alive longer just by helping.
Pick Up Trash: If you live somewhere rural take the kids out to collect trash on a one-mile stretch of road. Be sure to wear bright colors and talk to everyone about car safety before you go.
Nursing Home: Encourage your kids to head to a nursing home to visit the elderly. They love to play board games, be read to and even just sat with and your kids will really feel like they’ve made an impact at the end of the day.
Congratulations for even considering volunteering as a family…that’s a great step!

Volunteering is such a rewarding part of life. It lets you help others, but it also gives you the chance to learn new things and to be appreciated for who you are. One place that can always use more volunteers are local nursing homes. Too many times when people are placed in these facilities for care those that visited them before or helped them no longer come to call, it can be quite upsetting.

It can become quite lonely, and this can make being in a nursing home even more disturbing. So what can someone do to help with this problem? Volunteering at these places is the answer.Confused? Here ‘s a little help . The elderly have a lot to teach and a lot to talk about. They enjoy just talking. They might like to play games. Keeping one’s mind sharp when you are in the same routine everyday is important.

With the advances in medicine and people living longer, these facilities also house a great deal of very active people. Many of them love to dance, take walks, garden, or do some form of exercise. Having someone to do these things with is always more fun. If you like any of these activities you might enjoy volunteering at your local nursing home.

If you are truly interested in spending time lending a hand and making new friends then contact the Activity Program Director of your local nursing home and see if they could use your help or ear or hand today. You will not be sorry that you did.

It isn’t always easy coming up with practical ideas for children to volunteer in their community, but with a little creative thinking, you will find there are many ways that kids can lend a hand to those in need.

One of the simplest ways for a child to help those in their community is to raise money for a cause of their choosing. As individuals, kids can do extra chores, sell their old things at a garage sale, or even collect recyclables and redeem them for cash. The money they earn can then be donated to projects that help the community.

Kids can also serve their community by collecting things for those in need. In the winter, children can collect outgrown coats from their friends and donate them to churches or schools that help those that are less fortunate. Food banks are always looking for donations of canned goods.

Another great way for children to volunteer is to adopt a grandparent at a local rest home, help serve food at an area shelter, or even gather up their friends and pick up trash at their neighborhood park. Keep your eyes open and you will find someone a child can help.If you like what you see, keep going: Find an Organization to Partner With

Giving is an act that benefits both the giver, as well as the receiver. Giving is not only kind, but simply just feels good to do. The act of giving should be instilled in children at a very young age, so that they can carry this trait with them throughout life.

Children are extremely perceptive. In actuality, a child may sense that a person is in need even before an adult does. The problem is, given their limited resources, they do not know how to help.Want more? Click here/tag

This is where you come in. Giving a child the means to help empowers them, and helps them realize that they can indeed make a positive difference in the life of others.

It is also beneficial to explain to child why they should give. Everyone wants to know why they should perform any given task, and children are no exception. Take the time to explain to them how certain situations require them to open up their heart, and help.

Teaching children the importance of giving is of extreme importance. It ensures a new generation of caring people, and makes the world a better place. Take the time to set an example for the children around you. What they learn from you today, will make for a better tomorrow.
