Community gardens are becoming more popular, especially in urban and suburban areas. With the price of food increasing every day, more people are turning to gardening to grow their own food. You want to be sure that the whole community gets involved and the children will be excited to bring the flyers home to their parents. Have a meeting to discuss ideas with the people that are interested and to start fundraising. You will need donations to help clear the land, buy tools and seeds and to install a garden shed.

Ask for volunteers to help with the fundraising. You would be surprised to find out that many businesses will donate to their local communities. You may be able to get a garden shed, tools and seed from a local home improvement store and plant seedlings from a local farm. Also, you may be able to get someone to help out with the initial clearing of the land with a tractor. It is important to get local businesses involved because they will continue to support your cause year after year.
